It is the goal of SVC-CAMFT is to ensure that we have an environment that is conducive to learning for all of our attendees so we ask that at our events\workshops not to wear scented products. Thank you.

This program will benefit LMFT, LPCC, LEP and LCSW licensees and pre licensees by gaining the ability to understand and deconstruct sociocultural understandings and expectations of gender and sex, and how these premises/biases may show up in work with non-binary identified individuals. How to observe, identify, and modify our own process and naturalized assumptions around these things.

Includes: Breakfast and meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Sacramento Valley Chapter of California Marriage and Family Therapists (SVC-CAMFT) CAMFT CEPA CE Provider #62279 is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor Continuing Education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. SVC-CAMFT maintains the responsibility for the program and all its content. CE Credit will be awarded after the completion of the course via email in exchange for a completed course evaluation form.

No CEs will be awarded to persons arriving late or leaving early. Partial CE credit will not be awarded.

Workshop Information:

Working with Non-Binary Identified Clients is designed to introduce a basis of practical, applicable knowledge for direct service providers to be able to competently serve transgender and/or gender non-conforming clients who identify as non-binary. Includes basic practices to increase gender-related competency and safety in your practice and work as a whole, as well as the opportunity to ask more specific questions related to situations or wonderings a clinician has had come up in their own work or life.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the importance of names and pronouns, and be able to implement at least two basic strategies in any future work

2. Understand the basics of gender as a spectrum and as separate from sex, and be able to demonstrate this understanding using intentional language

3. Identify at least three common misconceptions about working with non-binary identified individuals

Presenter Bio:
Finley (they/them/their) is a non-binary identified licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who spent the past several years training under - and then alongside - Dr. David Nylund in the areas of Narrative Therapy, transgender and queer issues, and Queer Informed Narrative Therapy specifically. They work in a variety of areas and with many populations, though trans youth (especially under ten) are some of their favorite. Other areas of specialty include self harm, trauma experienced in the mental health system, consensual non-monogamy, and BDSM/kink.

Registration Policy
Effective January 1, 2018 SVC-CAMFT event registration must be paid online except with prior approval. Registration dates and fees may vary and are subject to change without notice. Event discounts prices and discount periods may or may not be offered. Event registration is deemed complete during the registration period in which registration payment is received. Incomplete or unpaid registration will be cancelled and removed at the end of each registration period.

Cancellations received more than 7 days prior to an event may be subject to an administrative fee to cover costs of the initial transaction. No shows, failure to attend, and cancellations 7 or fewer days prior to an event for any reason are non-refundable, including registrations received fewer than 7 days prior to an event. No credit, refunds, or price adjustments will be given for typographical advertisement errors.
