Letter From Your President“From Surviving to Thriving”Esteemed Sacramento Valley Chapter CAMFT Members, My name is Angel Ortiz, and I am your chapter president for 2023. I am a partially sighted LMFT who served as our chapter’s first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee chair last year. The theme I chose for this first quarterly newsletter, “From surviving to thriving” sums up where our chapter was during the COVID-19 pandemic and where we find ourselves today. To that end, let me introduce you to our current Board of Directors: Amita Khare, LMFT (Past President), Cassandra Flagg, LMFT (Treasurer), Victoria Tognozzi, LMFT (Secretary), Christine Romero, LMFT Diversity Chair, Janani Venkateswaran, AMFT Program Co-Chair, Alexandra Thompson, AMFT Program Co-Chair, Kindra McCall, AMFT 3000 Club Chair, and Wen Chang Membership Chair. We have two vacant Board positions: Sponsorship and Volunteer Chair. If you would like to join this dynamic group who is committed to you, our chapter members, please email me: president@svccamft.org. Our goal this year is to continue the trajectory that our chapter is on, to best serve the needs of you, our chapter members, as we all strive to provide much needed mental health services to our clients. You are the lifeblood of our chapter, please consider a micro-volunteering opportunity. It’s exactly like it sounds, a short-term event-based volunteer opportunity. For more information on micro-volunteering, please email: infor@svccamft.org. 2023 has gotten off to a wonderful start! Thus far we have held the following workshops: Intake and Treatment Planning, NAMI Sacramento Resource Sharing and Introduction to Team CBT, with many more interesting and informative workshops and Annual Membership Appreciation Picnic in August. Bookmark us at: svc-camft.org to stay informed of all your chapter has to offer. I am proud to share that your Sacramento Valley chapter earned a Chapter Excellence Award at this year’s Statewide CAMFT Leadership Conference: Best Recruitment and Membership Development – First place, Best Financial Management - Second place, Best Program and Events marketing Practices - Second place, Cassandra Flagg, our treasurer, was awarded the Outstanding Chapter Leader! These awards were earned by the hard work of your Board of Directors and on the strength of members like you!
