Description
This presentation will equip licensees with the knowledge and skills necessary to treat clients who have experienced intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood sexual trauma, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation in an ethical and clinically sound manner. By focusing on trauma-informed, culturally affirming, whole person care, participants will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of these forms of abuse and develop appropriate intervention strategies. The training will also emphasize the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for clients to disclose their experiences, ensuring that ethical standards of confidentiality, respect, and sensitivity are maintained. Through this, licensees will be better prepared to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment while adhering to professional ethical guidelines.
Educational Goals/Learning Objectives

- Define 5 key signs and symptoms of intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood sexual trauma, and human trafficking that may present in clients during therapy or clinical sessions.
- List 3 trauma-informed intervention strategies that can be applied when working with clients who have experienced sexual exploitation or human trafficking.
- Demonstrate 2 effective communication techniques for creating a safe, supportive environment for clients to disclose experiences of abuse, trafficking, or exploitation during clinical sessions.
- Identify 3 or more local and regional organizations that clients can connect with for support and services related to intimate partner and domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
